Every birth is a miracle of life. At the BirthPlace, our experienced maternity team is dedicated to making each birth a personal experience. Our goal is to support and help carry out the choices of your birthing plan. And if mom or baby needs specialized care, we have Duke University neonatologists and perinatologists on-site to provide services right here at Alamance Regional.
An Experienced Team – Our nurses hold certifications in obstetrics, neonatal care and childbirth education. We also have certified lactation consultants on staff. The board-certified obstetricians and certified nurse mid-wives who deliver at the BirthPlace have extensive skills and experience with both vaginal and cesarean births. And all of our staff members are committed to personalized, compassionate care at this special time.

Level II / Level III Neonatal Nursery – Our Special Care Nursery is designed to care for infants as young as 30 weeks and as small as 2.2. pounds. The nursery is staffed full-time by Duke University neonatologists. Read more on our Special Care Nursery page.
High-Risk Pregnancy and Preconception Care – Duke University perinatologists work closely with area obstetricians to create care plans for mothers who may have high-risk pregnancies. A Perinatal Clinic staffed by Duke Perinatal Consultants is held twice a week on the Alamance Regional Campus. The clinic also offers genetic screening and preconceptual care for women who may have health concerns or recurrent pregnancy losses. For information about our Perinatal Clinic, click here.
Fetal Echocardiography– Fetal echocardiography is available on the Alamance Regional campus through Duke Children’s Cardiology of Burlington.
Extra Pampering – All mothers are able to receive a free, relaxing mini-massage by a certified massage therapist. Our private, spacious labor and delivery suites combine the comforts of home with the advanced technology of our medical center. Each suite features a special birthing bed, a convenient fold-down bed, a private bath with seated shower, TV/DVD player and private phone.
Pregnancy and Parenting Classes - Pregnancy is a time for excitement, anticipation and lots of questions. We offer expectant families and new parents a wide range of classes.
