At Alamance Regional, our orthopedic surgery outcomes have been ranked among the top 10 in the state by Business North Carolina magazine for four consecutive years. These outcomes reflect our dedication to excellence. Every day we bring orthopedic patients the most advanced technology, compassionate care, and comprehensive rehabilitation.

The latest in surgical technology – Computerized mapping equipment in our surgical suites creates a global positioning system (GPS) for the body. This advanced technique, used for total joint knee replacements, provides surgeons with a visual display for ultimate precision in navigation and surgery.

Many patients with back problems can benefit from a new procedure called anterior cervical discectomy. This surgery utilizes a small incision in the neck to relieve pressure from a herniated disc. And advanced practices in arthroscopic knee (ACL) and shoulder surgeries are helping patients with sports injuries or other joint problems.

Our orthopedic surgeries include:

  • Total knee replacement
  • Partial knee replacement
  • Total shoulder replacement
  • Shoulder arthroscopy
  • Total hip replacement
  • Partial hip replacement
  • Knee arthroscopy
  • Carpal tunnel surgery
  • Lumbar laminectomy
  • Spine kyphoplasty
  • Anterior cervical discectomy/fusion

Joint Works

Joint Works is a special program for patients preparing for knee or hip replacement surgery. The program is designed to help patients make a smooth transition from hospital to home.

Before surgery, patients attend a class taught by a registered nurse, a physical or occupational therapist, and a social worker. Patients learn what to expect after surgery, and discuss pain management, rehabilitation, exercises, and equipment. Tours of the Orthopedic Unit are also available, and family members are welcome to attend.

Following surgery, patients use the special physical therapy gym located on the Orthopedic Unit. The gym is equipped with steps, beds and chairs so patients can learn how to safely perform daily tasks.
