Headline: Parenting Class at Alamance Regional to Help New and Expectant Parents
Alamance Regional Medical Center and Alamance Partnership for Children have teamed up to offer an eight-week B.A.B.Y. Birth and Beginning Years Parenting Class for new and expectant parents. The class is designed for anyone who is pregnant or who has an infant less than four months of age.
Class topics include what to expect during pregnancy and birth, ways to take care of mother and baby, sleep for parents and baby, nutrition, crying, child development during the first year, and the relationship between reading and early brain development. Participants also have time to share ideas and experiences with other parents. Each of the eight classes includes a light meal and participants receive a free library of children’s books. Participants also earn BABY bucks which can be redeemed for infant care items.
The B.A.B.Y. class is part of a national Motheread® program. Alamance Partnership for Children has staff members that are trained as Motheread B.A.B.Y. educators.
