Headline: Edgewood Place and Heritage Place Earn Five-Star Ratings

Edgewood Place and Heritage Place at The Village at Brookwood have earned a 5-star rating across the board from the Department of Health & Human Services Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

“There are 400 skilled nursing facilities in North Carolina,” says Dan Cuthriell,  Executive Director of The Village at Brookwood.  “Our facility is now one of three in the entire state with an overall Five Star rating.”

The federal government developed the rating system and Nursing Home Compare website to provide a data-driven quality rating system for skilled nursing facilities. The quality is rated from one star (worst) to five stars (best), based on a review of health inspections, staffing and quality measures such as residents' health, physical functioning, mental status and general well-being. A 5-star rating means that a facility ranks “much above average.”

“Our staff has committed to achieving these ratings through compassionate care for our residents,” says Mark Childs, Administrator of Health Care. “These ratings are based on a three-year cumulative score and require excellence on all five levels consistently during this period.

“We are very humbled by the acknowledgment and will strive for continued success now and in the future,” Childs continues. “The most important outcome we measure is our residents’ belief that we delivered the highest level of service to them personally.”

Edgewood Place, located on the campus of The Village at Brookwood, provides comprehensive rehabilitation, short-term skilled nursing care, and long-term skilled nursing care for Alamance County residents. Heritage Place, the private health care area for The Village at Brookwood continuing care retirement community (CCRC), has rooms for assisted living, memory support and skilled nursing for residents living on the campus of the CCRC.

Edgewood Place opened in 2001. The Village at Brookwood, including Heritage Place, was built adjacent to Edgewood Place in 2003 in order to offer senior living in a premier continuing care retirement community (CCRC) with a full continuum of care. Edgewood Place and The Village at Brookwood are sponsored by Alamance Regional Medical Center.
