Medical Nutrition Therapy
Making sense of food labels, grocery choices and restaurant menus is a challenge, especially if you are trying to control a medical condition, lose weight or avoid food allergens. Our Medical Nutrition Therapy program offers eating, cooking and food shopping guidelines tailored to each patient’s individual needs. Patients are referred by a physician and receive one-on-one nutrition counseling from a Registered Dietitian. This program can assist with a range of medical goals and conditions, including weight loss, high blood pressure, diabetes, food allergies or renal failure.
We also offer Medical Nutrition Therapy for children. Our Registered Dietitians help coach parents and children in the process of making diet and lifestyle changes to match the child’s needs and food preferences. This program can benefit children who are overweight, underweight, or those who have chronic risk factors such as elevated blood pressure, cholesterol or blood sugar.
Medical Nutrition Therapy is offered at the Grand Oaks Center on the Alamance Regional Campus and Mebane Medical Park. Classes available in Spanish. For more information, call the LifeStyle Center at (336) 538-8100.
