Many inpatients at Alamance Regional are cared for by hospitalists, physicians who are specially trained to meet the needs of the hospitalized patient. Some primary care physicians in our community prefer to devote their time to office care and request hospitalists to provide care for patients who are admitted to the hospital. In addition, patients who do not have a primary care physician will receive care from a hospitalist.
The hospitalist team practicing at Alamance Regional includes board-certified internal medicine physicians who are exclusively dedicated to caring for our inpatients. These physicians offer care around the clock and help coordinate diagnostic testing and care from other specialists. Since hospitalists are in the hospital 24 hours a day, they are able to quickly adjust treatments when needed and are more available to communicate with patient and families. When you are discharged from the hospital, information about your stay is transmitted to your primary care physician.
