Board-certified cardiologists provide advanced diagnostic and treatment procedures in Alamance Regional’s state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Lab. These procedures include emergency coronary angioplasty, elective angioplasty, coronary drug eluting stent placement, and cardiac catheterization.
Other specialized procedures offered at Alamance Regional include intravascular ultrasound, which is used for selected patients during catheterization to better define and measure a blockage. An Implantable cardioverter defibrillator is a device that automatically detects and treats arrhythmia, reducing the risk of sudden cardiac death. In addition, physicians at Alamance Regional were the first in the state to implant a new device that offers cardiac monitoring for patients experiencing syncope (fainting). We also continue to offer pacemaker implants.
The evaluation and diagnosis of your heart’s condition is the first step in becoming heart healthy once again. Stress tests, nuclear stress tests, echocardiography and holter monitors are some of the diagnostic testing procedures offered. In addition to our Catheterization Lab, advanced diagnostic and treatment procedures are performed in the Interventional Vascular Lab.
Many patients’ heart care begins in the Emergency Department. Alamance Regional has a specially equipped and designated cardiac care room staffed with experienced physicians and nurses located within the Emergency Department. Also an inpatient telemetry unit provides continuous cardiac care in preparation for patients’ return home or to outpatient rehabilitation.
