At Alamance Regional’s Cancer Center, we’ve combined leading-edge treatments with a dedication to compassionate care. Our cancer and hematology patients have access to national clinical trials, a highly trained staff, and a full-range of support services. New advances, like our PET/CT imaging system, provide our multi-disciplined team with precise information for diagnosis and tumor staging so we can determine the best course of treatment for each patient.

Our cancer center is approved by the American College of Surgeons as a community hospital comprehensive cancer program. This distinction is shared by only one in four hospitals that treat cancer and means we regularly undergo thorough evaluations and reviews.

At our modern facility on the Alamance Regional campus, patients and families will find comfort and privacy. In addition to our state-of-the-art chemotherapy and radiation treatment areas, our center also features an in-house pharmacy, lab, and conference rooms. Our oncologists also offer follow-up appointments at Alamance Regional’s Mebane Medical Park

Inpatient Oncology Unit
Alamance Regional’s inpatient oncology unit features 27 private rooms that are housed in our patient bed towers. Cancer patients and families are able to receive the specialized support and care needed following surgery and during other inpatient stays. Nurses on this unit have received extensive training in the care of cancer patients.

Rehabilitation Program brings therapists and professionals from many disciplines together to meet the needs of patients and families after diagnosis, during treatment,
and in recovery.

The program addresses:

lymphedema treatment

nutrition
massage therapy
activities of daily living
healing touch therapy

Two of the most recent advances in radiation therapy are improving patient outcomes and helping to reduce the potential side effects of radiation treatments. Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) and Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) use state-of-the-art technology to deliver external beam radiation to the precise areas needed while preserving the surrounding healthy tissue. Alamance Regional was also one of the first hospitals in the region to offer Mammosite™ technology for the treatment of breast cancer. With Mammosite and other high dose radiation technologies, we’re able to deliver radiation directly into the tumor, drastically reducing treatment time while effectively treating cancer.

Gyn Oncology Clinic

Patients with uterine or ovarian cancer can now receive care from a gynecologic oncologist right here at home. Through a collaborative partnership with Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Bridget Miller, MD, holds a gyn oncology clinic two days each month. Dr. Miller, who is a board-certified gynecologic oncologist, works with area physicians to provide surgical services, pre-operative clinic visits, and outpatient post-operative care for patients with gynecologic oncology needs.

KidsCan!

KidsCan! is a program designed to provide emotional support for children and teens that have a parent or family member with cancer. Sessions for children, teens and parents are offered. KidsCan! is supported through a grant from the Holt Foundation, formed by NFL stars and Gibsonville natives Torry and Terrence Holt, and the Charitable Foundation of Alamance Regional.
