Wound Healing Center

Advanced care for chronic wounds

Wound Healing Center

The Wound Healing Center at Alamance Regional is designed to help patients with wounds that have not responded to traditional treatment. The center treats a variety of wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, non-healing skin tears, radiation tissue injuries, and failing skin or muscle grafts. We also offer an ostomy support program.

Our goal is to provide the highest quality wound care in your community. We know that chronic wounds can cause pain and discomfort and limit your day-to-day activities, and we want to help.

Our multidisciplinary team includes wound care physicians, certified wound specialists, physical therapists, hyperbaric technicians, nurses, diabetes educators and dietitians. Each patient receives an in-depth wound assessment, and our team works with your primary care physician. We also support self-referral.

Treatment options include:

  • Advanced dressings
  • Apligraf, an FDA-approved product for venous leg ulcers and diabetic foot ulcers

Ostomy Support

We recognize that ostomy patients — including colostomy, ileostomy, urostomy or any type of urinary or fecal diversion — have unique needs often have few resources to turn to. Alamance Regional’s Wound Healing Center has a nurse practitioner who is board-certified in ostomy care.

We can help patients with all their ostomy needs, including selecting the best pouching system, assisting with skin care and other issues. While ostomy can be a difficult, embarrassing issue for patients, Alamance Regional is committed to providing knowledgeable, compassionate care for all ostomy patients.
