Many inpatients at Alamance Regional are cared for by hospitalists: physicians who are specially trained to meet your medical needs while you’re hospitalized.
The hospitalists practicing at Alamance Regional include board-certified internal medicine physicians who are exclusively dedicated to caring for our in-hospital patients. These doctors offer care around the clock and help coordinate diagnostic testing and care from other specialists. Since hospitalists are in the hospital 24 hours a day, they are able to quickly adjust treatments when needed and are more available to communicate with patients and families.
Some primary care physicians in our community prefer to devote their time to office care and request hospitalists to provide care for patients who are admitted to the hospital. Patients who do not have a primary care physician also receive care from a hospitalist.
When you leave the hospital, information about your stay is sent to your primary care physician, ensuring continuity of care and appropriate follow-up.
