About the Physicians

Alamance Regional’s expert oncologists, radiologists and surgeons have trained in some of the nation’s leading academic medical center cancer programs. They see patients at the Cone Health Cancer Center at Alamance Regional as well as our clinics in Mebane and Yanceyville. Our doctors can also provide direct access to academic medical centers in the region when more specialized care is required.

Dr. Janak Choski

Dr. Janak Choski, MD, Medical Oncology

Dr. Janak Choksi is the Director of Medical Oncology at Cone Health Cancer Center at Alamance Regional. He is board certified in medical oncology and hospice and palliative care. Dr. Choksi serves as the local principal investigator for clinical trials with the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP) and Cancer and Leukemia Group B (CALGB). His clinical interests include general oncology, lung cancer and gynecological cancers.

Dr. Choksi completed a fellowship in medical oncology at the University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Medical Center and a residency at New York Medical College. He received his medical degree from Baroda Medical School, India.

Dr. Glenn Chrystal

Glenn Chrystal, MD, Radiation Oncology

Dr. Glenn Chrystal is the Director of Radiation Oncology at Cone Health Cancer Center at Alamance Regional. He is board certified in radiation oncology. Dr. Chrystal’s clinical interests include brachytherapy, including MammoSite technology, and breast, lung, prostate, and head and neck cancers. He is a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiation Oncology and the American College of Radiology.

Dr. Chrystal completed a residency in radiation oncology at the University of Maryland Medical System. He completed medical school and a master’s degree in anatomic pathology at George Washington University.

Dr. Matthew Ewend

Matthew Ewend, MD, Neurosurgery

Dr. Matthew Ewend is part of a special neurosurgery clinic for patients with suspected benign or malignant brain tumors. Patients are able to receive pre- and post-surgical care at Alamance Regional while having neurosurgery at UNC Health Care.

Dr. Ewend is chair of the department of neurosurgery at UNC Health Care. He is board certified in neurological surgery. He completed medical school, a residency and a fellowship in neuro-oncology research at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Dr. Timothy Finnegan

Timothy Finnegan, MD, Medical Oncology and Hematology

Dr. Timothy Finnegan is board certified in medical oncology. He cares for cancer and hematology patients at the Burlington, Mebane and Yanceyville locations.

Dr. Finnegan completed a fellowship in oncology and hematology at UNC-Chapel Hill. He served as chief resident during his internal medicine training at Virginia Commonwealth University and received his medical degree from The Medical College of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Robert Gitten

Robert Gittin, MD, Medical Oncology and Hematology

Dr. Robert Gittin is board certified in medical oncology and hematology. He sees general oncology and hematology patients.

A native of New York, Dr. Gittin discovered North Carolina while completing his undergraduate degree in chemistry at Duke University Medical Center. He completed training in oncology and hematology at Albany Medical Center in New York and UNC-Chapel Hill. Dr. Gittin also served as a research fellow in molecular biology at the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Dr. Brigitte Miller

Brigitte Miller, MD, Gynecologic Oncology

Dr. Brigitte Miller is board certified in gynecologic oncology. Her clinical areas of interest include advanced pelvic surgery, robotic surgery and radical surgery for gynecologic malignancies; evaluation of dysplasia of the lower genital tract and treatment with medical therapy, laser therapy or surgery; and coordination of radiation therapy and chemotherapy.

Dr. Miller’s fellowship in gynecologic oncology was with the University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. She completed a residency at the University of Tennessee and medical school at the University of Dusseldorf, Germany.

Dr. Paul Mosca

Paul Mosca, MD, Oncology Surgery

Dr. Paul Mosca conducts a special surgical oncology clinic at Cone Health Cancer Center at Alamance Regional. He is also on the staff of Duke University Medical Center and is board certified in general surgery. Dr. Mosca’s clinical interests include surgical oncology with a special interest in tumors of the liver, pancreas, upper and lower GI tract, skin and soft tissues.

Dr. Mosca completed a residency in surgery at Duke University Medical Center and completed medical school at the University of Virginia. He also holds a PhD in biophysics from the University of Virginia.

Dr. Timothy Oaks

Timothy Oaks, MD, Cardiothoracic Surgery

Dr. Timothy Oaks is board certified in thoracic surgery, and he specializes in advanced surgical procedures for lung and esophageal cancer. He previously served as director of cardiothoracic transplantation at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Dr. Oaks completed a fellowship in thoracic surgery at The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, England. He also completed a residency at The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and received his medical degree from The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine.

Dr. Sandeep Pandit

Sandeep Pandit, MD, Medical Oncology and Hematology

Dr. Sandeep Pandit is board certified in medical oncology and hematology.

Dr. Pandit completed a fellowship in oncology and hematology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He also completed a residency at Iowa Methodist Medical Center and received his medical degree from Mysore Medical College in India.

Veshna Ramiah

Veshna Ramiah, MD, Medical Oncology and Hematology

Dr. Veshana Ramiah served on the faculty of Duke University Medical Center and is board-certified in oncology and internal medicine. She completed a fellowship in oncology and hematology at Duke University where she received three awards for clinical research. Dr. Ramiah also served as chief resident at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.

Deanna Sasaki-Adams

Deanna Sasaki-Adams, MD, Neurosurgery

Dr. Deanna Sasaki-Adams conducts a special neurosurgery clinic at Cone Health Cancer Center at Alamance Regional for patients with suspected benign or malignant brain tumors. Patients are able to receive pre- and post-surgical care at Alamance Regional, while having neurosurgery at UNC HealthCare.

 Dr. Sasaki-Adams completed a fellowship in skull base and cerebrovascular neurosurgery at St. Louis University. She also completed a surgical residency at UNC-Chapel Hill and received her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin Medical School.
