Michael Tyner, MD, FACS, FASMBS
Dr. Tyner has been a surgeon for almost 25 years, performing general surgeries as well as bariatric operations. He has become skilled in using minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques to help manage diseases of the gall bladder, bile duct, colon, small bowel, and to repair abdominal wall hernias.
He has been performing bariatric surgeries for the last decade and is a member of the American Metabolic and Bariatric Society.
Dr. Tyner has led an ongoing mentoring relationship with the Benjamin Bloom National Children’s Hospital in El Salvador, where he has introduced laparoscopy, enabling the hospital to reduce pain and scarring from its surgeries on children.
He graduated with honors from Wake Forest University in 1979. He completed medical school and his general surgery residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
