Alamance Regional Selected to Provide Primary Sports Medicine and Imaging to Elon University Teams

Alamance Regional Medical Center has been selected by the Elon University Athletics Department as the official provider of primary care sports medicine and healthcare services, game-day imaging, diagnostic imaging and physical therapy to all Elon University athletic teams. Kirtida Patel, MD, a board certified sports medicine physician with Alamance Regional Medical Center, serves as the head primary care sports medicine team physician.

Elon Phoenix athletes are able to receive primary health and sports care in an on-campus clinic. Portable imaging equipment for games, in conjunction with highly-advanced MRI and CT technology at Alamance Regional, provides excellent diagnostic imaging for sports injuries. In addition, Alamance Regional’s team of experienced physical therapists is backed by the resources of a Human Movement Lab to offer athletes the latest in rehabilitation care.

Prior to joining Alamance Regional, Patel served as head team physician and student health physician at Rider University in New Jersey and served as assistant clinical professor in sports medicine at East Carolina University. She also has covered numerous Division I athletic events and worked with teams at Rutgers University and Princeton University.

Alamance Regional and Dr. Patel are also working in conjunction with Duke Sports Medicine to care for Elon University student-athletes. Duke physician Lee H. Diehl, MD, provides orthopedic surgery and orthopedic sports medicine services.
