AlaMAP

AlaMAP’s staff includes a pharmacist, pharmacy technician, prescription assistance coordinator and other professionals. The organization provides life-sustaining medications and medication therapy management to seniors and those under age 65 who do not have insurance.

In Alamance County, more than 3,000 seniors have no prescription insurance coverage and live at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty level, and the number of people without health insurance continues to increase. 

AlaMAP’s services include:

Medication Assistance Program (MAP)

  • Available to the citizens of Alamance County and surrounding communities who are currently uninsured and live at or below 250 percent of the federal poverty level
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Improves patient access to medications by using drug manufacturer’s patient assistance programs
  • Helps people avoid and manage any gaps in prescription coverage, such as reaching the Medicare D “doughnut hole” and maximum drug benefits for private insurance

Medication Therapy Management (MTM)

  • Available to citizens of Alamance County and surrounding communities
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Provides education to patients about their medications and medical problems
  • Maximizes the benefits of each medication including cost and effectiveness
  • Communicates with doctors and other health care providers to maintain quality care

Disease State Management (DSM)

  • Available to citizens of Alamance County and surrounding communities
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Helps patients understand how to manage their health conditions
  • Monitors and helps manages chronic health conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol and smoking cessation

Cost Assessment

  • Available to all citizens of Alamance County and surrounding communities
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Reviews cost of current medications
  • Provides you and your doctor with recommendations to lower your cost of medications

Monday-Thursday:

8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Friday:

8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

The office is closed from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. for lunch and is closed most holidays.

Pharmacy

Monday, Wednesday, Friday:

8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Wednesday:

1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
