Board of Directors

As a nonprofit organization, the Alamance Regional Charitable Foundation is governed by a board of directors. Board members represent a range of different organizations and perspectives from across the community.

Jerry Bailey

Jerry Bailey

Jerry Bailey is market president and business banking manager for Wells Fargo. In addition to the foundation board, he has also been heavily involved in the Alamance Area Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Alamance County, Alamance Community College, Alamance Community College Foundation, YMCA and New Leaf Society. He is a graduate of East Carolina University and lives in Burlington with his family.

Laura Berglund

Laura Berglund, MD

Laura Berglund, M.D. was raised in Burlington, NC from the age of 8 years and has lived in this area since then. Berglund from Williams High School and then received a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from UNC Chapel Hill in 1982. After three years of research at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, Berglund attend medical school and graduated in 1989 from UNC-CH School of Medicine. She completed her Residency and Chief Residency in Internal Medicine at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, finishing in 1993. From 1993 until 2011 she was part of a small physician owned Internal Medicine practice in Durham, NC. In 2011 Berglund joined ARMC Physicians Care in their Mebane Medical clinic office. She resides in Hillsborough, NC with her husband of 26 years. Berglund has two sons in college and are also part of the Orange County Foster Parent program.

John Beshel

Dr. John Beshel

Dr. Beshel is a chiropractor and owner of Beshel Chiropractic Center in Burlington. In addition to his service on the foundation board, he is also involved with the United Way of Alamance County and Knights of Columbus. He is a graduate of Western Illinois University and Palmer University and lives with his children in Elon.

John Beshel

Robert Wilson Carter, MD

Robert Wilson Carter, M.D was born in Selma, North Carolina. He graduated from Selma High in 1955, was a UNC Morhead Scholar in 1959, and Wake Forest Medical School Reynolds Scholar in 1963. Carter did his residency for internal Medicine at Henry Ford Hospital Detroit, Michigan from1963-1967. He served as a major in the U.S. Army Medical Corp Fort Eustis, Virginia from 1967 1969. Carter practiced Internal Medicine at Kernodle Clinic from 1969 -2002. He was a diplomat for the Ameican Board of Internal Medicine and a fellow for the American College of Physicians. Carter served as President of the Alamance Caswell Medical Society in 1986 and on the N.C. Society of Internal Medicine 1989-1990. He also served as Chief of Staff for Alamance Regional Medical Center 1992- 1994. He was Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine for UNC Medical School from 1976-2002 and Team Physician for Elon University Football team from1970- 2000. He is a member of the Burlington Rotary Club 1970- 2014, serving as President in 1977. Carter is married to Ann Morgan Carter, has 4 children, and 9 grandchildren. He is a member First Presbyterian Church and has served as Elder, Deacon, teacher and coach. His hobbies include golf, tennis, basketball and music.

Joan Clark

Joan Clark

Joan Clark is a Hendersonville native and volunteers for KidsPath at Hospice of Alamance-Caswell,  the local United Way headquarters, and Alamance Regional Hospital. She is a past president of the League of Women Voters for Alamance Co.  Joan is a graduate of Western Carolina University and has lived in Alamance County since 1977.

Montgomery Davis

Montgomery Davis

Montgomery Davis is district manager for Duke Energy. He is involved in a number of organizations in the region, including the Greensboro Rotary Club, UNCG Board of Visitors, Guilford Merchants Association, Greensboro Partnership and Rockingham County Partnership for Economic Development. He is a graduate of Greensboro College. He lives in Elon with his family.

Dr. Tim Finnegan

Dr. Timothy Finnegan

Dr. Finnegan is an oncologist who practices at the Alamance Regional Cancer Center. He is a graduate of Penn State University, Hahnemann University and the MCP-Hahnemann School of Medicine. He lives in Orange County with his family.

Tony Foriest

Tony Foriest

Tony Foriest was born in Ahoskie, N.C., and raised in Alamance County and currently lives in Graham, NC. Foriest served in the U.S. Army for three years before receiving a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina and a master's degree from Elon University. Foriest worked for the Xerox Corporation for 24 years, serving in various management roles. He was elected to the North Carolina Senate in 2006 and served until 2010. Foriest has worked extensively with the North Carolina Democratic Party. He served as chairman of the N.C. Senior Democrats, was a member of the N.C. Democratic Party executive committee and spent two terms as chairman of the Alamance County Democratic Party. Foriest and his wife, Clara, have two children.

Reagan Gural

Reagan Gural

Reagan Gural has lived in Alamance County since 2003. A graduate of Alamance Community College, Gural has a degree in Business Administration. Gural has been employed at Alamance County Area Chamber of Commerce since 2011 and is the Vice President of Membership Development and Marketing. In addition to the Foundation Board, Gural has also served on the Board at the Alamance County Meals on Wheels. Gural currently lives in Burlington with her family.

Rebecca Parks

Rebecca Parks

Rebecca Parks is unit manager at Vocational Rehabilitation Services in Burlington. She also serves on the board of the United Way of Alamance County, the N.C. Therapeutic Riding Center and other organizations. She has a bachelor’s degree from Elon University and a master’s from Auburn University. She lives in Snow Camp with her family.

Nikki Ratliff

LeAndra N. Ratliff

LeAndra Ratliff is program services director at the Burlington Housing Authority. In addition to the foundation, she also serves other community organizations, including the Burlington Junior Women’s Club, Alamance County Guardian Ad Litem program, Family Center in Alamance, Habitat for Humanity, the North Carolina General Federation of Women’s Clubs, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Ratliff is a lifelong resident of Alamance County and lives in Graham with her family.

Cheryl Ray

Cheryl Ray

Cheryl Ray is human resources manager at Sports Endeavors Inc. in Hillsborough. The North Carolina native is deeply involved in the community. In addition to the foundation board, she also serves on the boards of, or holds positions with, the Alamance County Human Resources Association, Mebane Business Association, N.C. Society for Human Resource Management, Alamance County Children’s Museum, Alamance County Area Chamber of Commerce, Orange County/Hillsborough Relay for Life and Mebane Women’s Club. Ray lives in Haw River.

Aaron Rose

Aaron Rose

Aaron Rose is director of quality resources at Alamance Regional and leads a team of eight that coordinate the reporting of quality data that is central to health care reform, Medicare incentives/penalties and reimbursements. Under his leadership, the hospital ranked as a top performer in areas such as cost of care and evidence-based care.

Jennifer Sanders

Jennifer Sanders

Jennifer Sanders is an attorney at LabCorp. She is a member of the board of trustees at Front Street United Methodist Church, involved in the leadership at the Alamance Country Club and a member of the Alamance County Bar. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned her law degree at N.C. Central University. She grew up in Burlington and lives there now with her family.

Brian Spangler

Brian Spangler

Brian Spangler is a financial advisor at Edward Jones. In addition to the hospital foundation, he is also president of the Alamance Business Club and a member of the Elon Society executive board. A graduate of Elon University, he now lives in Graham with his family.

Sam Turner

Sam Turner

Sam Turner is an agency manager for the N.C. Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Cos. He is also a member of the Alamance County Area Chamber of Commerce and president of the Burlington Association of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. He is a graduate of Barton College and lives in Burlington with his family.
