John G. Currin Jr. , FACHE, has been President, CEO since August 2005. From 1986 to 2005, he was Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer.
Mr. Currin received a B.S. degree in biology from Wake Forest University in 1971. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps from 1971-1976. He received his MBA in healthcare administration in 1978 from Duke University. Prior to joining Alamance Regional Medical Center, Mr. Currin served as Administrator and CEO of Granville Medical Center, Oxford, North Carolina, from 1980-1986 and Assistant Administrator of Wake County Hospital System, Raleigh, North Carolina, from 1978-1980.
Mr. Currin is active in community agencies and health-related organizations including: United Way of Alamance County, Alamance County Area Chamber of Commerce, Salvation Army, Kiwanis Club, Alamance Community College, and the North Carolina Hospital Association. He is board certified in healthcare management by the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Preston Hammock serves as Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President. He oversees day-to-day operations of the organization. He also helps coordinate business planning and forecasting and certificate of need and state licensure requirements.
Mr. Hammock holds a B.S. degree in biology from Duke University and a M.S. degree in healthcare administration from UNC-Chapel Hill, where he was a Benjamin Rodin Scholar. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Triad Healthcare Executive Forum and the Association for Medical Imaging Management.
He currently serves as president of the board of directors of Alamance County Meals on Wheels and is a member of the United Way of Alamance County Leadership Council and the Duke University Alumni Admissions Advisory Committee. Mr. Hammock was named to the Triad Business Journal 40 Leaders Under 40 in 2009.
Robert E. Byrd, FACHE, has served on the senior management team of Alamance Regional Medical Center since 1978. He currently is Senior Vice President. He is responsible for strategic planning, physician network/liaison development, physician recruitment, community health services, and ARMC Physicians Care, Inc.
Mr. Byrd received a B.S. degree in music education from The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, Pennsylvania in 1970 and the Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree from Duke University in 1978. Before graduate school, he was a registered respiratory therapist.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and served as the 2009 President of the College’s area chapter, the Triad Healthcare Executive Forum. He is a member of the Carolinas Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development. Mr. Byrd is active in community organizations, serving on the boards of the Alamance County Transportation Authority (Secretary-Treasurer), Alamance County Arts Council (past president and current treasurer), Burlington-Alamance Sister Cities, and Alamance ElderCare. He is past campaign chairman and past chairman of the board of directors of the United Way of Alamance County, past board member of the United Way of North Carolina, past president of the Alamance County Community Services Agency, past president of the Alamance County Chapter of the North Carolina Symphony Society, and is co-founder and musical director of the 18-piece Alamance Jazz Band. He is the recipient of the United Way’s 2002 Community Service Award.
Richard G. Donahey, FACHE, is Senior Vice President. He is responsible for all aspects of Human Resources, including personnel budgeting and staffing, policy development and review, benefits costs and administration, employee relations and development, and legal affairs. He has direct operational responsibility for Rehabilitation Services, the LifeStyle Center, Security, the Family Enrichment Center (daycare), Environmental and Dining Services, and Training and Development functions.
He received his B.S. degree in education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Indiana, Pennsylvania, in 1969, and his M.S. degree in education administration from Western Carolina University, Cullowhee, North Carolina, in 1979.
His prior experience includes Vice-President of Human Resources at Cleveland Memorial Hospital, Shelby, North Carolina (1976-1986), and Director of Personnel Services at the Greensville Hospital System, Greenville, South Carolina (1986-1987).
Mr. Donahey is a Certified Healthcare Executive in the American College of Healthcare Executives, a member of the American Society of Hospital Human Resource Administrators, the North Carolina Society of Hospital Human Resource Administration, and the Personnel Association of Alamance County.
Rex A. Street, CPA, is Senior Vice President, CFO. As Chief Financial Officer he is responsible for General Accounting, Patient Financial Services, Payroll, Corporate Finance, Materials Management, Information Systems, Compliance, and Medical Records. Other responsibilities include education of members of the Board of Directors concerning financial matters, managing all investment and financing options, negotiation of all managed care contracts, and education of medical staff on reimbursement issues.
He received a B.S. degree in accounting, graduating cum laude from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee, in 1977. He holds a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant in the states of North Carolina and Georgia.
Mr. Street is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, and the Health Care Financial Management Association.
Lea Gillis, BSN, MSN, is Chief Nursing Officer and Senior Vice President. Ms. Gillis joined Alamance County Hospital in 1976 as a staff RN and later held the positions of Head Nurse and Maternal-Infant Coordinator. She also served on the Merger Task Force for the merging of Alamance County Hospital and Memorial Hospital of Alamance County. Since then her roles have included Strategic Planning Director, Director of Acute Care, and Assistant Vice President of Nursing.
She holds a M.S. degree in nursing from Loyola University and a B.S. degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ms. Gillis is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the Honor Society of Nursing.
Vicki Moran is Vice President and oversees Cardiovascular Services, the Pharmacy, Clinical Engineering and Accreditation. Vicki served as Assistant Vice President for support services from 1988 to 1994. She worked part-time as the Joint Commission Coordinator from 1995 to 2009.
Mrs. Moran holds an undergraduate degree in health policy and administration from UNC-Chapel Hill and a master’s in health administration from Duke University. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Triad Healthcare Executive Forum.
